Missing Nikki
I often think of Nikki and whenever I do that cannot stop
smiling. Though she is no longer with us, she is missed daily. One thing which
makes me smile is when I used to take us for a walk daily. Labradors are known
to be friendly and she used to wag her tail at everyone and waited to be petted
by them. In fact, she had lot of admirers and because of her I made quite a few
friends during my morning walk. It once happened while on my usual morning
walk, I took Nikki out for a morning walk and met one of dog lovers on the way
whom I usually meet often during my walks. Nikki as usual started jumping and
wagging her tail to be noticed. That time she was not on leash. My walk friend
and Nikki were totally absorbed in petting and being petted. Nikki totally forgot that she was with me and
started following her which really scared me. I was scared what if she goes off
with her and other case what if she goes off with any stranger who pets her.
That made me wonder will she miss me, remember me. It was that moment when she
turned back and looked at me with those pretty eyes which stated very clearly- Relax! I have not forgotten you and am
yours. That’s when I heaved a sigh of relief.
